Surprising defeat for VfL Wolfsburg!

After qualifying last Wednesday for the 2nd round in the UEFA Women's Champions League VfL Wolfsburg suffered a surprising defeat at home in the Allianz Frauen Bundesliga.

Against SC Sand, a team that only stayed up in the Bundesliga last season on the last matchday VfL Wolfsburg lost 0-1 after a goal from former player Jovana Damnjanovic just beofre half time (0-1, 45th minute). The Serbain international headed an unsufficient clearance  over goalkeeper Almuth Schult in goal. Lara Dickenmann played the full game for VfL Wolfsburg who didn't manage to come back in the second half. SC Sand and SGS Essen (0-0 away at Turbine Potsdam) have now as many points (10) as die 'Wölfinnen'. 1.FFC Frankfurt drew 1-1 away at Werder Bremen and stay second with now 13 points.  Bayern Munich, the only winners at the top of the table (1-0 against SC Freiburg) extend their lead to 3 points!


The next game for VfL Wolfsburg is on Monday 2nd November 2015 away to Bayer 04 Leverkusen with kick off at 18h local time.
