A new season much different than before

It's been a while since I've written, but things have been pretty exciting here in Lyon for me lately. The season started back up again, so far it's been going well, and it's much different for me now because I am actually getting a lot of playing time, which is nice, and I hope it stays that way, but I guess that depends on me.

Additionally, i started back up with school two weeks ago, I am doing this master program in international business, which consists of 6 months of classes in french and english, and then another 4 to 8 months of internship, but where I am going to do that I don't know yet. I am glad I get to use my brain a little bit again, I think it fell asleep during the last 8 months. Playing soccer is really fun, but for me it can't be my only occupation. The classes have been really interesting so far, we have lots internationals even though the masters program consists only of 75 people. That creates a nice business atmosphere though and I am happy to meet people from all over the world, including the french of course.

This week half of the team left with their national teams for world cup qualifiers, so the numbers are reduced at practice, which can be a lot of fun too. This weekend it will be my turn to leave, as we are playing Israel in Ness Ziona, just outside of Tel Aviv, next Wednesday. I am excited to travel there since I have never been, and its going to be about 30 degrees, while here in Lyon its freezing cold. So I am glad to get out of here for a little while, but i have a lot of respect for all the news and stories surrounding the country. I think everyone is ready to play a good game in Israel, we need three points badly since we lost to Russia last month. Unfortunately, Ramona (Bachmann) injured her thigh (gueti besserig!!), so she won't be able to come with us.

Friendlies with club and country

After a 6 hour bus ride from Lyon to Saarbruecken, Germany, we arrived at the hotel, changed, and just shortly after went to practice at the stadium we were going to play the next day. It was a few degrees colder in Germany, so we were all happy when the training finally started. Afterwards we returned to the hotel where we ate kudos for the ones who are doing ramadan, It must be hard not to eat and drink on a bus all day when everyone around you keeps passing around goodies...

The next day we got up early because the game started at 11, so that we had enough time to get back home after. As we all have made our past experiences with German teams, we were prepared for a physical game. Like for the friendlies before we played with a young team, only a few girls from the last years first team were available. Our goal was to keep the ball and move it around in order to avoid Saarbrueckens physical game, with what we succeeded for the most part. We mostly dominated the game and didnt leave the Germans many opportunities to score. In the end we won 2-0; both goals were scored in the first half. Now I'm with the Swiss National team in Kloten to prepare for the friendly game against Scotland on Wednesday. It will be the rematch of last years games, of which we won the first one 5-0 and lost the other one 4-0.
